Cemetery Documentation
A defensible count, documented marker by marker
Virginia reimburses qualifying cemeteries through the Department of Historic Resources at a set rate per eligible grave per year. The number that decides the award is a defensible count of eligible graves, and that count has to be documented. Sentinel Aerial Inspections produces the site map, the marker inventory, and the condition record that an application rests on.
What's Included
Georeferenced Site Map
A fine-resolution orthomosaic of the whole cemetery, suitable for the grant application and for the state site record. The entire site is captured in one visit.
Marker Inventory
Every marker given a sequential ID, coordinates, and a photograph, with the inscription transcribed where the stone still reads. This is the documentation behind the eligible grave count.
Condition Record
Condition photographed per marker, covering displacement, sinking, fragmentation, and biological growth. This is what justifies a maintenance scope and its cost.
No Equipment on Fragile Ground
The site is recorded from the air. Nothing is driven or dragged across sunken graves, unmarked burials, or ground that will not take the weight.
Boundary Documentation
Cemetery boundaries and any encroachment documented, which is what ownership and jurisdiction questions turn on.
Turnaround
Site map and marker inventory delivered within seven business days of the flight.
Available Add-ons
Before and After Imagery
Repeat flights across maintenance cycles, giving grantees the visual record their annual reconciliation asks for.
Ground-Penetrating Survey Coordination
Where unmarked burials are suspected, we coordinate with a subsurface specialist and integrate their findings into the site map.
Church Property Package
Congregations with a churchyard cemetery can add steeple and roof documentation to the same visit.
Add-on pricing provided with your custom quote.
